Ryn, the Carpentar and Deltholur

Session:  1 January 2021 (continued)

On the third day from Posant the party traveled to Ryn and sought out the carpenter whose shop had been broken into. Ryn, another small farming town, made it easy to find the only carpenter in town. A proud carpenter named Heimath (human) explained to them about the odd break in. One morning a while back he came to his shop and found it in shambles. Clearly someone or several people had gone through his shop looking for something. He believes they did not find what they were looking for as nothing was missing. After talking with the party further he did relate that a similar incident had taken place after his where there was a break in and theft in Bettle. The difference being his break in and this time was that valuable wood acacia was missing. It appears that was what the criminals were looking for.

Heimath also spoken about the smithy and tanner break ins in Deltholur. The party decided to head up the Deltholur and on the way speak with the carpenter in Etholur to ensure his place had not been broken into. After a brief stop in Etholur, where they did confirm his shop had not been broken into the party continued on the Deltholur. As darkness fell they were able to arrive just in time to go to the mayors home and meet with mayor Matterly Leverson. Leverson was a friendly human who was also very glad the party had arrived. He explained the events his town had faced and all the farm robberies and then went into detail about the sweep they had done searching for the rustlers.

A few weeks ago his raised a militia of about 100 and broke them into patrols of ten each. These ten patrols then went out about 2-3 miles from town and then got on a line about a quarter of a mile apart and moved forward into the woods towards the mountain. As they neared the mountain it appears one of the patrols (furthest on the left) was attacked and disappeared by an unknown force. Then the patrol that was fourth from the left was attacked and this time two ran away and were the lone survivors. They said they had been attacked by kobolds speaking elvish.

The party coordinate for the mayor to provide them a guide for the next morning to take them to the ambush sites. The party then stayed at the Draggin' Dragon and heard more stories of farm attacks and thefts.
