At dawn on the morning of their fourth day from Pasont, the party met the dwarf Bill Trend at dawn in front of the mayor's house. Bill had been on the mission and was willing to take them back out there.
About 2-3 miles out of town, before the party moved into the woods, Varis and Shmoo felt the earth start to rumble. Fearing an attack the party circled up just in time as an Ankeg arose out of the ground right near Bill. Then a second came out of the ground just in front of Shmoo chasing an illusion he had set out there. After some close combat and healing the party slew one of the Ankegs and drove off the other. Varis and Shmoo attempted to recover the Ankeg's exoskelton and possibly venom sack, but it was beyond their skill.
Despite having received some significant wounds from the Ankeg, Bill's respect greatly grew for the party as he saw them slay the Ankegs and heal him. After a short rest the party continued on towards the ambush sites as the day was still young.
