In this video Dallin demonstrates the technique to use to trap the ball when it is coming at you from high in the air. Notice is stance while he is receiving the ball. He has his knees bent, slightly bending over with his body and especially notice how he "gives" with his foot and thigh as he traps the ball. The goal of the trap is to place the ball in a position so you can immediately play it in the way that you want. If you have trapped it well you should not have to touch it again to pass it in the direction you want to or start dribbling in the direction you want to go. The cones are placed there around him to remind him how much space he has to trap the ball.
